Activists on the Sumud Flotilla were attacked by Israeli drones as their aid convoy sailed off the coast of Greece this week.
Footage shared by organisers on social media showed explosions detonating on and around the vessels.
The 51-boat flotilla is carrying urgent humanitarian supplies to Gaza in an effort to break Israel’s blockade. Bringing together more than 300 activists, it is the largest maritime aid convoy to head for Gaza since October 2023.
Late on Tuesday night, activists said they heard drones circling overhead before several blasts shook the convoy. Organisers later reported chemical sprays and communications jamming targeting the ships.
Italy announced on Wednesday afternoon that it was sending assistance to support Italian citizens on board.
On Salaam Britain, activist Saddaqat Khan described the fear among passengers after the explosions but stressed their determination to deliver its aid to Gaza.
