Watch: Islam Channel’s Interview with Mothin Ali — Deputy Leader of the Green Party

Mothin Ali, the co–deputy leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, has made history as the first Muslim to hold a deputy leadership position in a national party across England and Wales.

A councillor for Gipton and Hare Hills, Ali’s journey began in Sheffield, born into a British Bangladeshi family. He credits his rise in politics to a commitment to serving all members of his community, building trust through consistent, meaningful engagement.

A prominent advocate for Palestinian rights — he drew national attention with his keffiyeh on election night — Ali played an important role in the Green Party’s resolution to recognise the events in Gaza as a genocide and calling for boycott, divestment, and sanctions.

Watch this episode of In Conversation With to explore Ali’s journey, his principles, and the values shaping his leadership.
