London welcomes back the Uzbek Culture and Food Festival for its annual celebration at Tower Bridge on June 21st and 22nd.
Now in its third year, the a family-friendly event returns to Potters Fields Park next to the iconic London landmark, bringing the richness of Central Asian heritage to the heart of the city.
The vibrant heritage of Uzbek culture will be celebrated over two days, featuring engaging performances by acclaimed Uzbek artists, interactive activities, and the preparation of Uzbekistan’s national dish, Plov.
At the heart of the event is a spectacular culinary display. Attendees will witness the preparation of one tonne of Plov, led by Bahriddin Chustiy, a Guinness World Record holder recognized for preparing over seven tonnes of Plov to date.
He will be joined by Muzaffar Sadykov, founder of OshPaz and proprietor of the renowned Regent Street restaurant.
“Bringing Plov to London has been a long-standing personal aspiration rooted in both pride and purpose,” said Sadykov. “To now play a role in connecting my heritage with the city’s dynamic food culture is deeply fulfilling.”
The festival will open with a ceremony featuring live traditional Uzbek music and dance performances.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore a variety of cultural exhibits and displays, highlighting the diversity of Uzbek traditions.
Ravshan Usmanov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan, said: “Organised through the collective initiative of the Uzbek community, the festival is presented with the involvement of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United Kingdom. It serves as a platform for fostering cultural dialogue and mutual appreciation between Uzbekistan and the UK.”
The Uzbek Culture and Food Festival will run from 12:00 to 18:00 on both days. Entry is free. For more details, visit the official website.
