The event boasts a rich history of hosting some of the world’s most influential figures. Renowned scholars like Dr. Yasir Qadhi, Sheikh Hamza Yusuf and the late Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef have given their spiritual wisdom and championed the cause of interfaith dialogue.
Political and cultural figures like Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, Jeremy Corbyn MP, the late Tony Benn, and Malikah Shabazz, daughter of the influential civil rights leader Malcolm X, have graced the GPU stage. It has also drawn international political figures, such as former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The GPU has hosted various notable figures from diverse entertainment backgrounds, including TV presenter Kristiane Backer, Jermaine Jackson, from the Jackson 5 and brother of Michael Jackson, and comedian Mo Amer, who recently had a series on Netflix.
Yusuf Islam (formerly known as Cat Stevens), the acclaimed singer-songwriter and philanthropist, has performed at the event, while nasheed artists like Zain Bhikha, Ahmed Bukhatir, and the late Junaid Jamshed have also performed at the festival.
