The Islam Channel Business Awards 2026 gathered an impressive collection of business leaders, politicians, ambassadors and other prominent figures to celebrate British Muslim businesses.

It was an evening that one again highlighted the significant contribution Muslims make to Britain’s economy and wider society.

Hosted by BBC journalist Harron Rashid, the event featured speakers including Sir Iqbal Sacranie OBE, Jon Trickett MP, Tribune Magazine editor Oliver Eagleton, campaigner Isra Chaker, Pakistani cricket legend Shahid Afridi, as well as Islam Channel CEO Mohamed Harrath, and founder Mohamed Ali Harrath.

“What you do every day is to build a strong economy,” said Trickett. “Today, the Muslim community in Britain creates £70bn worth of wealth per year. It’s quite extraordinary.

“You are a very significant player in our economic growth.

“Secondly, on social justice, we know your religion requires you to make donations. I looked at the figures today; £2.2bn worth of money is given by the Muslim community in charitable donations. That is four times more than the average person who isn’t a Muslim in our country. So thank you for what you’re doing.

“You are putting into practice the ideas of economic growth and social justice at the same time.”

The night also celebrated Islam Channel’s acquisition of Tribune Magazine — Britain’s oldest democratic socialist publication, in print for 89 years.
