Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is running as an independent candidate for the Islington North constituency in the upcoming July 4 election.
Corbyn, who has represented this north London seat since 1983, was barred from standing as a Labour candidate by the party leadership.
Islam Channel followed Corbyn on his campaign trail, observing as he engaged with constituents from diverse backgrounds.
During his interactions, Corbyn emphasised the significant contributions of mosques and Islam to British society.
There cannot ever be a hierarchy of racism. Racism is wrong,” Corbyn told Islam Channel.
“A lot of women suffer the most appalling abuse, particularly Muslim women, on the streets and on the buses. And they often tolerate it, accept it, or just suffer in silence.
“But we have to be very tough on it. It’s Muslim women who suffer the most. They need proper support from the police so that the perpetrators of this abuse are dealt with.”
He has been a vocal advocate for the ceasefire in Gaza and emphasised the failure of the main parties on the issue.
On broader issues, Corbyn said his current focus is on addressing critical issues such as poverty, sustainability and global peace.
