The annual Visit My Mosque campaign returns on the weekend of September 28-29, 2024, when mosques across the UK will open their doors to visitors under the theme ‘Sharing Stories.’
In its ninth year, Visit My Mosque 2024 is organised by the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) and will see over 250 mosques across the UK hold open days.
Mosques will welcome neighbours, friends and people from the wider community to help build community cohesion.
“Visit my mosque is an opportunity for communities to learn more about Muslims, to visit a mosque – many in the country have never been to one – but also to demystify people’s misconceptions about Islam and Muslims,” MCB Secretary General Zara Mohammed told Islam Channel at the launch event at London Central Mosque.
“As we’ve seen from some of the awful things in the streets, the riots, the extreme far right, it’s never been more important to open doors, hearts and minds.”
Islam Channel went to the launch event to find out more about its significance.
