Israel attacks on Gaza hospital burns alive Palestinians, Hezbollah drone kills four soldiers

Israel targeted Al-Aqsa Hospital in occupied Gaza, creating a fire amongst the tents where refugees sheltered, killing four people and burning scores of others.

It comes as a Hezbollah drone strike killed four soldiers and wounded dozens at an Israeli military base.

The attack on Al-Aqsa Hospital is the seventh such attack on the complex, according to reports from the Palestinian government media office.

Social media footage showed harrowing scenes of tents ablaze and people burning alive, with onlookers frantically trying to extinguish fires and save victims.

An Israeli army spokesperson said it carried out the attack, claiming Hamas used the site as a “command and control centre,” though no evidence was presented to support this assertion.

In a separate incident, an Israeli strike hit a school sheltering Palestinian civilians in the Nuseirat refugee camp on Sunday night. The attack killed at least 22 people, including children.

“A strike hit a hospital courtyard, burning the tents where people were sleeping,” the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Unrwa, said on X.

“Just before this, an Unrwa school sheltering families was hit in Nuseirat. That same school was going to be used as a polio vaccination site today.”.

Since Israel’s genocide in Gaza began, it has frequently attacked civilian infrastructures such as hospitals and schools.

Drone kills four Israeli soldiers

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a drone attack on a military base in northern Israel, killing four soldiers and injuring numerous others.

The group said it launched a “swarm of drones” at a military base in Binyamina in retaliation for Israel’s bombing of central Beirut on Thursday, which killed at least 22 people.

Israel’s national rescue service reported 61 wounded in the attack.

It marked the deadliest assault of its kind since Israel began its widespread attacks in Lebanon in September.

Hezbollah warned Israel that “what it witnessed today in southern Haifa is nothing compared to what awaits it if it decides to continue its aggression against our noble and dear people”.

Given Israel’s sophisticated air defence systems, it is unusual for aerial attacks to result in such high casualties.

Addressing the drone incident, Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated: “We will investigate how a [unmanned aerial vehicle] can breach without warning and hit a base.”

In another incident over 20 people were killed by an Israeli airstrike on a Christian town in northern Lebanon.

World stands by as Israel threatens UN peacekeepers

Meanwhile, Israel continues to threaten UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, after five were wounded in recent days by Israeli attacks on their positions.

The UN reported a “further flagrant violation of international law” on Sunday when Israeli tanks forcibly entered a UN position, destroyed the main gate, and fired smoke rounds.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a video statement demanding the peacekeepers leave.

“The IDF has requested this repeatedly and has met with repeated refusal, which has the effect of providing Hezbollah terrorists with human shields.”

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said: “Unifil peacekeepers remain in all positions and the UN flag continues to fly.

“The secretary-general reiterates that Unifil personnel and its premises must never be targeted. Attacks against peacekeepers are in breach of international law, including international humanitarian law. They may constitute a war crime,” he said.
