Man, 29, seeks wife — with a billboard advert

Meet the man who advertised himself on billboards to find a wife.

Mohammad Malik plastered his face across the billboards in Birmingham with: “Save me from an arraigned marriage.”

The 29-year-old is trying something a bit different, having tried the usual methods of looking for a wife.

“I’m a creative, love doing the most random and absurd – but 100% halal of course – things,” said Mohammad.

“Traditional methods such as ‘rishta aunties’ didn’t work for me, so I thought why not take it to the billboards.”

The billboards direct prospective wives to a website he set up.

On the website, the entrepreneur says he “loves good bants, and I know it sounds cheesy – but learning more about my own faith.”

As for what he’s looking for, Mohammad says: “My ideal partner would be a Muslim woman in her 20s, who’s striving to better her deen. I’m open to any ethnicity but I’ve got a loud Punjabi family – so you’d need to keep with the bants.

“Always personality and faith over anything else!

“P.S I’m an only child and look after my mom and dad. If this is a deal-breaker I don’t think it’ll work out.”

Mohammed is not against arranged marriages: “there are many studies that show that arranged marriages have many advantages.” He just wants to try and find someone on his own first.

The stunt has yielded some results — mainly media exposure. Malik says he’s been “overwhelmed and blessed by the positive response so far.”

“Inshallah I can reply to all the genuine applications (I fully intend to!). Please bear with me, Allah SWT has blessed me with a lot more help on my search than I expected,” he adds.
