The crescent moon for Dhul Hijjah 1447 has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, confirming the dates of Hajj and Eid al-Adha 2026.
The sighting means the first day of Dhul Hijjah will be Monday, 18th May.
As a result:
- Hajj will begin on Monday, 25th May
- Day of Arafah falls on Tuesday, 26th May.
- Eid al-Adha will be observed on Wednesday, 27th May
Dhul Hijjah is the final month in the Islamic calendar and several hadiths detail the importance of the first ten days of the month.
The Prophet PBUH said: ” There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days” (Bukhari)
